The Deanery of Student Affairs has cautioned the Bayero University, Kano’s Independent Electoral Commission to do everything within its constitutional powers to conduct a credible and transparent Student Union Government election. The commission was also warned to avoid any act capable of causing disaffection among students, as its activities would be under close monitoring.
This was part of the call made by the Dean, Student Affairs, Dr. Shamsuddeen Umar, during an interactive session between the Student Affairs and officials of BUKIECO, as well as some candidates seeking election into various SUG posts on Friday, 20 July, 2018.
The election is scheduled to hold on August, 16 2018.

The Dean enjoined the BUKIECO officials to live up to the expectation accorded to them and carry out all their assignments throughly with a sense of fairness and fair
play and exercise their constitutional rights as being truly independent. He also called on the aspirants to know that mainstream politics starts here; therefore, they should accept defeat and victory in good faith.
Dr. Umar further charged them to desist from hiring mercenaries from outside capable of causing violence and failure, as this will attract stiff penalties.
The Deputy Deans of Old and New Campus, Dr. Umar Sani and Dr. Dahiru Sani Shuaibu, as well as the Deputy Registrar in charge of Student Affairs, Hajiya Anisatu Uwais, advised the students to play the rule by the game and work as a team to conduct free, fair and unbiased elections. The BUKIECO was also advised to try as much as possible to rebuild confidence in the minds of the students by sanitizing all forms of electoral processes, ranging from cautioning aspirants against pasting
posters on university walls and organizing healthy presidential debates.
